HOXWORTH CENTER UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI MEDICAL CENTER: The Hoxworth Center is a 187,000 square foot, six-level building located at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The top two floors, occupied by Hoxworth Blood Center, are serviced by a central atrium, and consist of the following areas: Blood Drawing, Testing, Processing, Distribution, Research and Development, Classrooms, labs, and administrative, general & staff offices. An enclosed pedestrian bridge links the Hoxworth Center to the existing circulation system at the hospital's Critical Care Pavilion, via the Goodman Street garage. The remaining four floors of the Hoxworth Center are devoted to outpatient services associated with the Medical Center. For maximum flexibility, the building is designed as a hybrid, more like a multi-tenant office building, than a hospital. This approach yielded economic benefits, as well as adaptability for future modifications as functionality and patient demand-load changes. |
