This expansion project included the addition of 63 skilled-nursing beds, a memory-impaired unit, new main entry, gift shop, chapel/multi-purpose room, kitchen and dining facilities, physical and occupational therapy areas, wellness center, community outreach, and administrative areas. Designed in conjunction with Lorraine Hiatt, a renowned gerantological consultant, the new nursing units incorporate a cluster concept, which groups nine resident rooms around separate living and support spaces. The result is a minimizing of the institutional character associated with nursing facilities, creating a homelike environment, which benefits both residents and staff.
