WESTERN HILLS/DATER HIGH SCHOOL CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOLS CINCINNATI, OHIO SFA Architects is currently providing complete architectural, engineering, space planning/ Master Planning, and interior design services for the renovation of Western Hills and Dater High Schools. While the original structure was built in 1928, subsequent additions were built in 1938, 1954, 1974 and 1994. The total area being renovated is 356,353 square feet. The original buildings are reflective of the second renaissance revival style of architecture with its monumental massing, symmetrical E-shaped plan, Greek and Roman influences detailing with a tiled hip roof. The nine-bay central part of the building is articulated by a seven-bay, three-story limestone facade with arched doorways with rusticated keystone surrounds capped by a Corinthian colonnade frieze and a wrought iron balustrade. Our goal is to respect the architectural past while providing a state-of-the-art educational facility that affords flexibility for future program changes. The building will accommodate the latest technology, communications, monitoring, and environmental control systems available while maintaining the splendid wood and plaster interior detailing along the public areas. |
