The expansion and renovation of the St. Xavier High School was designed to address the deficiency in space and infrastructure of its 40-year old campus. The first phase of the project focused on the creation of a new entry into the school, along with the addition 170 new parking spaces and making the building handicap-accessible.
Highlights of the expansion phase:
-Three-story science wing, including eight state-of-the-art science laboratories/ classrooms
-A computer center
-400-seat chapel
-Intramural gymnasium
-New student entryway
-A new Music Center with band and choral rooms, instrument storage, and two group sound rooms
In addition to a technology upgrade in all existing classrooms, two computer centers, two language labs, and a new varsity locker room were provided as well. Lastly, the previously freestanding natatorium was updated with a new entry, concrete grandstands, concession area, parent/ student lounge, weight-training facility, and enlarged locker rooms.
The entire construction of the project was completed in 18 months without disruption to normal school functions and schedules.
