This new school replaced 2 existing schools The design, completed by SFA Architectswas driven by two primary educational and organizational design goals. The first was to elevate learning by creating small learning communities within a large education facility. The second was to acknowledge that the Riverview East Academy will be a vital Columbia Tusculum Community resource. Four individual, self-contained learning communities were provided, four on each floor, in the education wing. Each community consists of four classrooms clustered around a shared group learning area as well as student and staff restrooms. These flexible classroom clusters can be configured either as small, independent schools each accommodating specific grade levels, single subject learning centers or any combination of the two.
